A Paws & Plots win screen reading Solved, with the solve time and the streak

The three Dailies in Paws & Plots are the heart of the game, but they run out by breakfast. Unlimited mode is for everything after that: as many puzzles as you want, at any size, with your own records to chase. Here’s how it works and how to use it to get faster.

What Unlimited mode is

Unlimited gives you a fresh puzzle whenever you want one, at each of the three sizes:

Size Grid Cats
Easy 7x7 7
Medium 9x9 9
Hard 11x11 11

The puzzles follow the same rules and the same promise as the Dailies: exactly one answer, reachable by logic alone, never a guess. Each size has a deep pool of puzzles, so you can play for a long time without repeats.

Unlimited is separate from the Dailies. Nothing you do in it touches your Daily streak, so it’s the right place to practice, experiment or just keep going.

What it tracks

Unlimited gives you a few goals of your own, without new screens or extra rules.

Best time per size. Your best time for each size shows on the home screen and under the puzzle’s title while you play. While you’re on pace to beat it, the clock glows gold. Beat it, and the win screen says “New best!” along with your old time.

A separate no-hint best. The game also keeps your best time with no hints, so a fast solve that leaned on hints never hides a clean record.

No-hint runs. Solve puzzles back to back with no hints and the win screen counts your run, for example “3 in a row with no hints!” A solve with a hint ends the run, and the next clean solve starts a new one.

Session count. From the second solve on, the win screen counts how many puzzles you’ve solved this session.

Stats. The Stats screen shows your average and best time for each size, with the Dailies and Unlimited kept apart, so you can see how your practice is paying off.

Moving up a size

After a solve with no hints, the win screen offers a Try button for the next size up. It’s a gentle nudge: if Easy is going cleanly, Medium is probably ready for you.

There’s no lock on the sizes. You can play Hard on day one if you like. But the step from 7x7 to 9x9 to 11x11 is real, and moving up when you’re solving cleanly is the most comfortable way to climb.

A practice plan for faster solves

Speed in Paws & Plots doesn’t come from tapping faster. It comes from spotting the forced cells sooner. A practice plan that works:

  1. Do five clean Easy puzzles. No hints. Focus on the routine: smallest plot first, cross out each cat’s row, column, eight neighbors and plot.
  2. Watch your no-hint run. If it keeps breaking at the same kind of position, that’s the technique to study. Our solving techniques guide covers the six that come up most.
  3. Move up when the Try button appears. It shows after a clean solve; take it.
  4. Use drag to mark. Dragging across a row or column marks several cells with X’s at once. On 11x11 boards it saves a lot of taps.
  5. Chase the no-hint best, not the best. A clean time is the honest measure of how well you read the board.

And avoid the classic traps in our beginner mistakes post, especially forgetting the diagonals.

Sharing an Unlimited solve

You can share an Unlimited result too. It shows the size, your time and how many hints you used, and like every Paws & Plots share it never reveals where the cats go.
